The Current War

A snippet of Edison's life story, the film explores the "electric war" between the Edison Electric Light Company and the Westinghouse Electric Company. Not to kill the opponent, these two scientists fight in the spirit of searching for the best electric current system.

The film was released in the United States (US) on November 24, 2017. It stars, among others, Michael Shannon (Man of Steel), Nicholas Hoult (X-Men) and Tom Holland (Spider-Man: Homecoming).
The film, directed by Alfonzo Gomez Rejon and screenwriter Michael Mitnick, is set in 1880 when Edison had just launched the incandescent inilamp, his latest invention. Edison plans to develop another technology related to electricity, and will bring it to
manhatttan
Edison's plan was interrupted by news from another scientist, namely George Westinghouse (Michael Shannon) who also plans to develop electric current technology in the US.
Edison's plan was interrupted by news from another scientist, namely George Westinghouse (Michael Shannon) who also plans to develop electric current technology in the US.
Westinghouse, previously impressed by the invention of the incandescent lamp, invited Edison to dinner together. He wanted to study Edison's invention. To his surprise, Edison was not very friendly.
Edison also downplayed Westinghouse's idea of using alternating current (AC) in the development of his latest electrical technology. Edison concluded that the development of electricity with AC current endangered society
Westinghouse, who felt insulted by Edison's words, then tried to prove that air conditioning was a better, more efficient, low-cost, aka cheap, and safe technology.
Meanwhile, scientist Nikola Telsa (Nicholas Hoult) arrives in the US in order to realize a collaboration with Edison. It turned out that the cooperation did not materialize because Edison did not agree on the financial promise
Telsa is very disappointed. He then turned his back on Edison. He joined the Westinghouse team to develop AC current technology
Knowing Telsa had joined Westinghouse, Edison was furious. On the positive side, his anger pushed him even more "crazy" to develop DC (direct current) current technology. This means that electricity can be applied at a more affordable cost.
The Edison versus Westinghouse feud is a battle to light US cities, and beyond, with the best electrical technology.
